7 Displaced by Fremont House Fire Sparked in Electrical Socket

Fire officials estimated the structural damage to the home at $350,000 and said $75,000 worth of possessions were destroyed.

A fire that displaced seven Fremont residents Monday night started in an electrical socket and spread to the home’s second floor, a fire official said today. Fremont firefighters responded to the fire in the 39100 block of Logan Drive at 9:25 p.m., Fire Division Chief Diane Hendry said.

The blaze sparked in a first-floor electrical socket, moved up the wall and extensively burned the older-model home’s second floor and attic, Hendry said. It took firefighters about 35 minutes to control the fire, she said. Hendry estimated the structural damage to the home at $350,000 and said $75,000 worth of possessions were destroyed. Seven residents were left without a place to live.

They had evacuated by the time firefighters arrived and no one was reported injured, she said. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
