Bobcat Surveys Sabercat Creek Trail: Photos Of The Day

An early morning hike produced this exciting sighting Thursday morning.

FREMONT, CA — Jim Erickson reminds us that wildlife is always nearby in Fremont. He snapped this pair of photos Thursday morning while hiking on Sabercat Creek Trail, next to the Paseo Padre Street bridge, at 7:30 in the morning. The bobcat was about 60 feet from the trail, almost out-of-range for his cell phone camera. At first, the bobcat looked like a large house cat, but when it moved Erickson was able to confirm that it weighed some 30 to 40 pounds and had a bobbed tail.
