Duo Charged In Fremont Murder For Hire Scheme: DA

The Fremont man was killed for insurance money, according to official documents. The insurance policies had allegedly been altered.

FREMONT, CA — Murder charges were filed today against Maria Moore and Marvel Salvant in a sophisticated murder-for-hire case that resulted in the homicide of Fremont resident Dominic Sarkar, according to a written release from Alameda County District Attorney Nancy E. O’Malley.

O'Malley praised the Fremont Police Department for its extensive and complex criminal investigation into the murder. Police discovered that Moore was the beneficiary of the victim’s two life insurance policies, totaling $800,000. The policies had allegedly been altered to remove the victim's daughters as beneficiaries.

Moore allegedly hired Salvant to kill Sarkar, who was shot to death on Oct. 8 of this year.
