Fleeing Motorcyclist Dies In Crash: Fremont Police

The man allegedly violated a criminal protection order at a Fremont home.

FREMONT, CA — A 50-year-old man who allegedly violated a criminal protection order at a Fremont home Sunday night fled from police on a motorcycle, and crashed and died a short while later, according to police.

The incident began at 10:06 p.m. when officers received a report of someone violating a criminal protection order at a home in the 38000 block of Vancouver Common, police said.

The suspect, identified by the coroner as Jeffery Davis, was reportedly outside the home on a motorcycle. When officers arrived, they saw the suspect fleeing on the motorcycle, heading west on Mowry Avenue. Officers tried to stop the motorcycle but were unable to.

Davis was last seen turning north on Paseo Padre Parkway and then passing Country Drive before officers lost sight of him, according to police.

Officers decided not to pursue the motorcycle and instead remained at the residence as they continued investigating the protection order violation.

At 10:14 p.m., police dispatch received several calls regarding a crash involving a motorcycle at Paseo Padre Parkway and Peralta Boulevard, police said.

Callers said the motorcycle crashed into a traffic signal and that the rider was in the roadway. Officers responded to the scene and found Davis lying in the roadway, unconscious and not breathing, according to police.

Officers attempted to provide the motorcyclist with first aid, but paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

After a preliminary investigation, officers were able to determine that the motorcyclist who died in the crash was the same suspect who fled from the earlier incident, police said.
