Fremont, East Bay Realtors Raise Money For Food Bank
They raised nearly enough for $50,000 worth of food purchased for the Alameda County Food Bank. Demand has soared since coronavirus closures
FREMONT, CA — Real estate professionals with the Tri-Cities Marketing Group joined with other East Bay colleagues to raise money for the Alameda County Food Bank through a “virtual” food drive in July. They raised more than $6,000.
“Every dollar raised is worth $7 in food,” said June Burckhardt, a member of the Bay East Association of REALTORS Board of Directors. “Our goal was $4,900 and we raised more than $6,000 which means almost $50,000 in food.”
Katherine Avila, Food and Fund Drive Coordinator for Alameda County Community Food Bank said, “This is the largest response that the food bank has gotten from the real estate community in Alameda county in the eight years I’ve worked with the Food Bank. It will take all of us to step up to help and that’s exactly what this food drive has done.

Avila was so impressed by the success of this virtual event that she will use it as a template for working with other groups.
“We have seen and heard about the difficulties families are facing due to COVID-19. The need that families have for food is far greater now than ever,” Burkhardt said.
