Fremont Honored for Excellence in Financial Reporting

Do you think financial reports are boring? the City of Fremont takes them very seriously.

The City of Fremont has been honored for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. The Certificate of Achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the Fremont City Council and City staff.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR.

“This recognition is aligned with the City’s commitment to transparency in our financial reporting and accounting,” said Mayor Bill Harrison. “Our comprehensive annual financial report is easy to read and provides the public with detailed information on how the City spends taxpayer dollars.”
