March Blocks Roads: Fremont Black Lives Matter Protest

Protesters marched to City Hall and then to the Police Department, blocking major roads along with way. There were small incidents: police.

FREMONT, CA — Protesters marched to the Police Department building in Fremont Tuesday afternoon. They chanted "No Justice, No Peace, No Racist Police."

According to Fremont Police, there were a few small incidents reported, "The protesters are at the PD and all activities have remained relatively peaceful this evening. We had one incident of illegal fireworks set off near the crowd and one encounter with objects thrown at a patrol car."

No injuries were reported.

The protesters marched down Mowry Avenue to City Hall, and from there to the Police Department building.

Along the route, they blocked major roads.

The marchers were protesting the killing of an unarmed black man in Minneapolis. George Floyd died on Memorial Day at the hands of a white police officer. The organizer of the Fremont march advertised it as a "Black Lives Matter Protest" on Twitter.

Widespread unrest has broken out across the country in the wake of Floyd's death.

Fremont is currently operating under a State of Emergency. A curfew is in effect from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. A separate curfew is in effect for Alameda County.
