Fremont Officer Involved Shooting Leaves One Man Dead
Fremont Police and the Alameda District Attorney are investigating Wednesday's shooting of a suspect police say was armed.

FREMONT, CA —The Fremont Police Department announced Thursday that one of its officers was involved in an officer involved shooting on Wednesday evening that resulted in a man's death. The man who died matched the description of a suspect in a shooting that took place earlier that night, and a gun was recovered at the scene, police said.
The Fremont police said the incident is being investigated by the Fremont Police Crimes Against Persons Unit and that the Alameda District Attorney has been notified and will conduct a parallel investigation.
According to reports, at approximately 5:19 p.m. Wednesday, patrol officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a shooting at the Southlake Mobile Home Park, 4342 Auto Mall Parkway, where a victim had been shot in the head.

Officers arrived at the scene and administered trauma care to the victim, before the victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. No update has been given on the victim's condition.
At 6:04 p.m. near the intersection of Auto Mall Parkway and Southlake Common, according to police, an officer tried to stop a man who matched the description of the shooting suspect in the earlier crime. During the interaction between the officer and the suspect, an officer involved shooting took place.

Officers immediately provided trauma care to the suspect. However, the man was pronounced dead at 6:23 p.m. A handgun was found at the scene, police said.
Police said the exact chain of events in under investigation, and details about the shooting would be released after all the evidence is examined.
Additional details, including the names of those involved, also would be released in the upcoming days as the investigation continues, according to police.
