Fremont Police Arrest Homicide Suspect

Police officers investigating an assault made an arrest in a homicide that happened two weeks ago.

FREMONT, CA — Police arrested a Fremont man Wednesday on suspicion of committing a homicide on Oct. 25. Marquice McClinton, 37, was transported to Santa Rita Jail following his arrest.

The victim was discovered shot-to-death at 5 p.m. on Oct. 25, according to Fremont Police. Officers found him behind a business in the 3100 block of Walnut Avenue. The victim had been shot in the chest.

Investigators used the Community Camera network to help identify McClinton as the suspect. He has a long criminal record including arrests for attempted homicide, violent assaults, firearms possession, and evading.

On Wednesday, patrol officers responded to a report of a battery in-progress. The suspect was McClinton, who fled through a neighborhood. After a foot pursuit, officers arrested him near Blacow Road and Brophy Drive.
