Fremont Police Carrying Water Today For Residents
They'll be watching for people who may be distressed by this heat. Have you checked on your elderly neighbors today?
FREMONT, CA — Here's an example of how Fremont Police officers truly serve our community - they're carrying iced water bottles in their patrol cars to hand out to community members.
Triple digit weather can quickly become dangerous. On Monday, two elderly residents died in San Jose because of the heat.
"Police field employees will also be handing out literature to members of our community with information about the risks of extreme heat conditions and the location of the City's cooling centers," FPD said in a written statement. "In addition, the Tri-City Animal Shelter is making arrangements to set up a cooling area for owners and their pets who may need relief from the heat during the day. The forecast for the next few days suggest that extreme heat will continue with today being the hottest day."
