Fremont Police Increase Staffing For Lunar New Year
The announcement comes following mass shootings in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay that claimed a total of 18 lives.
FREMONT, CA — The City of Fremont is launching its first-ever Lunar New Year celebration from noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday.
The family friendly event will be held at the Downtown Event Center and Plaza, 3500 Capitol Ave.
The Lunar New Year is one of the most important holidays in many Asian cultures. Fremont's celebration will include food trucks from Food Truck Mafia, activities, live performances, and a Kids’ Corner. The $4 per child fee for Kids’ Corner includes a variety of festive crafts, a commemorative photo keepsake, and a grab bag full of fun take home items. Kids’ Corner tickets can be purchased prior to the event.

Meanwhile, the Fremont Police Department tweeted Monday that it is increasing security at the event following shootings within the Asian community in Half Moon Bay and Monterey Park.
