No New Coronavirus Deaths Reported In Alameda County Monday
The death toll remains at 42, although the number of cases continues to climb.
ALAMEDA COUNTY — The number of people in the county who have died of COVID-19, caused by coronavirus, did not climb on Monday according to the Alameda County Public Health Department. The number remains at 42.
However, the health department also announced 49 new cases, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 1191. That number includes Berkeley's separate health department numbers.
According to Johns Hopkins University, Alameda County has the 6th highest death toll among California counties, following Los Angeles, Riverside, Santa Clara, San Diego, and San Bernardino.

According to the latest numbers from Johns Hopkins University, 31,740 people in California have officially been diagnosed with coronavirus, and the death toll has now reached 1,181. Those numbers were reported at 12:45 p.m. on Monday.

In the US, 41,313 people have died of coronavirus, with 776,513 confirmed cases.
Across the globe, there have been 2,458,150 diagnosed cases, and 168,906 reported deaths.
The number of people who have actually had coronavirus may be significantly higher than official reports. Stanford University tested approximately 3,300 Santa Clara residents April 2-3 for COVID-19 antibodies in the blood. None of them had COVID-19 at the time of the tests. The study concluded that as of April 1, when Santa Clara County had 956 confirmed COVID-19 cases, approximately 48,000 to 81,000 Santa Clara residents had been infected with the virus.
