Flash Flood Warning Issued for South Alameda County, Sunol, Alameda Creek
BREAKING: Drivers are urged to use caution and avoid driving through flooded areas.
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — A flash flood warning was issued Monday afternoon for southern Alameda County including I-680 from Pleasanton to Sunol and the Alameda Creek in Niles Canyon, National Weather Service officials said. Official ask drivers to use extreme caution in the area. The warning, which was expected to expire at 4:30 p.m., has been extended through 9:45 p.m., according to the Alameda County Office of Emergency Services.
Officials say many areas around Pleasanton have flooded and drivers are asked to stay off the roads.
Palomares Road is closed to all traffic between Palo Verde Road, Castro Valley, and Niles Canyon Road (Highway 84), Fremont, at mile marker 8.73 due to a major mudslide, according to Alameda County Public Works Department.
