Stolen Gun, Dagger Seized As Suspect Arrested
Fremont Police credit a tip from the public for the man's arrest.

FREMONT, CA — Fremont Police received a tip about a suspicious man looking into windows of parked vehicles on Joseph Street. The hunch by the member of the public was correct — police arrested Juan Contreras Hernandez, 19, and seized a stolen gun, extended magazine and a dagger.
The tip was made during the noon hour on last Friday.
About 10 minutes later, officers spotted Contreras Hernandez several blocks away. He matched the suspect description.

"As officers contacted the suspect," police said, "he appeared to hide something between two parked cars. After officers detained Contreras Hernandez, a concealed dagger was found on his person. Officers then checked the area where Contreras Hernandez appeared to have hidden something and located a Glock pistol with an extended magazine, which contained twenty-three rounds."
A check of the gun determined that it had been reported stolen.
Officers arrested Contreras Hernandez for Penal Code 25850(a) – Carrying a loaded firearm in public, Penal Code 21310 – Possession of a concealed dirk or dagger, and Penal Code 496(a) – Receiving stolen property.
