Demolition begins on Fresno's long-awaited community kitchen (fresnoland.org) — Fresno's long-promised community kitchen for street vendors is finally moving forward, with demolition starting on a Fresno Street building to make way for the new facility. Backed by $5 million in funding, including a city grant, the kitchen aims to give local vendors a compliant, affordable place to cook and store food, after years of delays, stricter regulations, and the community's push for better support.
   

2. Slick City Action Park to open first Central Valley location in Fresno (thebusinessjournal.com) — A new Slick City Action Park is planned for the former Bed Bath & Beyond space on North Blackstone Avenue, bringing multi-story dry slides and family attractions to Fresno. The corporate-owned indoor park is under development now, part of a broader trend of trampoline and slide centers filling vacant retail sites across the Central Valley.
   

3. Fresno working to keep school routes safe as students return to class (abc30.com) — As Fresno students head back to class, city officials are targeting sidewalk hazards, vacant buildings, and overgrown properties near schools to keep kids from being forced into the street. The School Area Team and City Attorney Andrew Janz are urging parents and residents to report problems through 311 or the FresGO app so crews can fix issues before they become serious safety risks.
   

4. Fresno Falcons unveil new Jumbotron at Selland Arena (yourcentralvalley.com) — Fresno hockey fans just got a big upgrade at Selland Arena, where a new $625,000 Jumbotron was unveiled with a dramatic countdown and hype video for the returning Fresno Falcons. If you missed the ceremony, you'll be able to experience the massive new screen yourself during Falcons home games this fall when their season schedule kicks in.

Here's what happened in August (fresnobee.com) — Fresno's dining scene saw a flurry of changes in August, from new spots like Essen Cafe near Fresno High and Victoria's Mexican Food in north Fresno to busy favorites winning local "best of" honors.
