Santa Clara County Office of Sustainability
The Office of Sustainability was established by the Board of County Supervisors in August 2010, with a mission to integrate sustainability measures and principles across all departments and offices, and to forge a leadership and collaborative role for the County among local, state, and national partnerships addressing climate mitigation, adaptation, energy, water and resource optimization.

In less than four years, the Office of Sustainability has generated more than $25 million in grant and alternative funding support for local and regional programs, and has garnered a number of regional, state and national awards for innovation in energy program design and marketing.

The Office is currently serving as the 9-county Regional Lead for the Bay Regional Energy Network’s Single Family, Energy Financing, and Marketing, Education and Outreach Programs. In addition, the Office leads a 7-jurisdiction greenhouse gas inventories and climate action planning project under its growing partnership with PG&E.

The Office is also the Project Director for Silicon Valley 2.0, a regional climate adaptation framework, governance guide, and decision-support tool project, under a grant from the Strategic Growth Council. Later this year, the Office will launch Driving to Net Zero: Decarbonization of Transportation in Silicon Valley, in partnership with five County Municipalities, Joint Venture Silicon Valley, and the Bay Area Climate Collaborative – also through a grant from the Strategic Growth Council.
