The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today to its lowest amount of the year, falling 1 cent to $3.613.
The average price has decreased 58 of the past 59 days and is 4.7 cents less than one week ago, 20.6 cents lower than one month ago and 25.9 cents below one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price dropped to its lowest amount of the year, falling eight-tenths of a cent to $3.587. It has decreased 58 of the past 59 days and is 4.2 cents less than one week ago, 18.9 cents lower than one month ago and 23.6 cents below one year ago.
The average price could dip below $3.50 per gallon before the end of the year "provided prices keep dropping at a similar rate," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
