The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped to its lowest amount since Jan. 16 today, falling nine-tenths of a cent to $3.727.
The average price has decreased 42 of the past 43 days and is 5.6 cents less than one week ago, 21.4 cents lower than one month ago and 46.6 cents below one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price dropped to its lowest amount since Jan. 16, falling seven-tenths of a cent to $3.695.
The Orange County average price has decreased for 43 consecutive days and is 5.2 cents less than one week ago, 21.3 cents lower than one month ago and 44.8 cents below one year ago.
The Orange County average price has fallen 34.5 cents over the past 43 days, including a half-cent on Tuesday. The dropping prices were immediately preceded by a 14-day streak of rising prices totaling 20.3 cents.
The 43-day streak of declines is the longest since a 75-day streak from Oct. 9 to Dec. 22, 2012.
Further price decreases are expected because of lower demand and the switch to cheaper-to-produce winter blend of gasoline, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
