A Little B&B in Moss Beach

My husband and I were introduced to the bed & breakfast scene the month before our wedding. We were looking for somewhere quiet, not too far from home where we could escape all of the wedding madness. We found that place in Moss Beach called Seal Cove Inn.

We had never stayed at a B&B, but any place that served us wine and appetizers in the evening and breakfast in the morning couldn’t be all that bad. For those of you not familiar with what a bed & breakfast is all about, it’s more than just a bed and breakfast in the morning. It’s usually a very quiet, small place. They don’t have floors upon floors of rooms like a hotel. Some provide a bottle of wine in your room or maybe soda, if you prefer. Seal Cove B&B is located in a secluded area within walking distance to the beach, tide pools and Half Moon Bay bluffs that overlook the ocean. There is a great walking path right next to Seal Cove that leads you down to the ocean. Make sure to watch for giant Banana Slugs on the path. During certain times of the year, you can see seals playing in the water and lounging on the beach. It’s such a great way to spend a morning after a delicious breakfast. The staff can also help you plan other activities, make reservations at local restaurants for you and even have bikes available that you can take out for a spin.

They have a beautiful garden setting where you can sit and enjoy the different birds that fly in to enjoy the seed that they put out for them. Sitting in the quiet setting, drinking coffee and breathing in the fresh morning air is the best!

Your guestroom at Seal Cove will have a teddy bear that you can purchase. When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, my husband and I spent the weekend at Seal Cove to celebrate. We purchased the bear with the thought that we would give it to our child when he/she was born, and we did. The bear sits on my daughter’s dresser and every time I look at it, I remember the special times that we have had at Seal Cove.
