Chomping On a Lobster Roll at Sam's Chowder House

Sam's Chowder House has been touted for its views and kid-friendly atmosphere, but the true test is its food.

I arrived Wednesday just slightly ahead of the lunch crowd and scored a window table. The view of the harbor was mesmerizing. I watched a sailboat slowly make its way into the Bay. Children scampered on the beach. A flock of cormorants bobbed lazily on the surface of the water.

The service was fast but not hurried. Before long I was enjoying my "cup" of New England Clam Chowder, which is as large as most restaurants' bowls.

Then came the most amazing lobster roll that I've ever eaten. Made with the claws and body meat of the lobster, the filling on a toasted roll was perfection.Sam's proudly touts the choice of its lobster roll as one of the five best sandwiches in America by NBC's Today show. It's certainly one of the best that I've ever had.
