Frozen in Time: California From the Air
The earth unfolds in patterns when viewed from the air--some sinuous, others uniform. Aerial photographer Barrie Rokeach has frozen their images in time.
Photographer Barrie Rokeach has been taking aerial images for decades, capturing the patterns and features of a changing California. Browse through the pages of National Geographic, Smithsonian, Audubon, and the New York Times to see his photos.
Rokeach's photographs will be featured at Coastside Fine Art Gallery July 13 - August 6.

Rokeach will give an informal talk about his work at an Artist Reception Saturday. "My work is an attempt to participate in the evolution of visual language," Rokeach said in an emailed statement. "The aerial perspective provides a unique window on geographic and geological archetypes. Yet I strive to define additional paradigms that expand the conceptual framework of image content and meaning."
Rokeach said his photographs "convey elements that go beyond contemporary representative aerial imagery." He said his personal vision and sophistication continues to evolve.
