Police say they found a loaded handgun following the chase.

PACIFICA, CA - A man suspected in an armed robbery of a Pacifica convenience store has been arrested following a police pursuit, crash and foot chase, officials say.
George Edward Washington, 26, of Pacifica, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance while possessing a loaded firearm, resisting a peace officer, child endangerment and on outstanding warrants, according to the Pacifica Police Department.
Officers with the Pacifica Police Department responded Tuesday to the 7-Eleven at 137 Manor Drive on a report of an armed robbery. The suspect reportedly robbed the store after brandishing a firearm and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of currency, police said.

Two days later, police say they had identified Washington as the suspect in the case. When they went to the 200 block of Bancroft Avenue, they spotted him getting into a vehicle being driven by a female.
"An attempt was made by officers to affect a traffic stop on this vehicle in Pacifica," police said in a news release. "The vehicle fled from officers resulting in a vehicle pursuit into San Francisco."

Eventually, that vehicle crashed into another car on Somerset Street in San Francisco, police said. Washington hopped out at that point, and ran away towards the Palega Recreation Center, where several young children were present, according to police.

Police say they caught up with him, though, and arrested him on Felton Street.
"The pursuing detective found a loaded handgun on the Palega Recreation Center campus after this
foot chase," police said. "Detectives believe this is the same handgun Washington used during the robbery on
July 19, 2016."
In addition to arresting Washington, police say they also arrested the woman who was driving the vehicle during the chase, 24-year-old Breanna Marie Mezzie.
