Shaved Ice Maker Gets a Workout

Employees at Nano's Yogurt Shack were busy with today's hot weather taking shaved ice orders.

Shaved ice, Hawaiian style. It's truly something everyone must try, especially on a hot day.

Today's high temperatures on the Coast brought in dozens of people to looking to cool off with an order of their Hawaiian shaved ice.

For $4, a heaping mound of shaved ice is sweetened with your choice of flavored syrup from blueberry, sour apple and strawberry to bubblegum, cotton candy and cherry, which many say is the best choice. Combining flavors is also encouraged.

One little girl visiting Half Moon Bay from Menlo Park chose cherry and blueberry.

"It's so yummy and cold!" she said between bites.

Another ordered sour apple and strawberry and said it was "awesome."

Add yogurt in the middle or cream for a truly decadent treat.
