Chabot Sprinters Sizzle At NorCal meet
Robert Stitts sweeps 100, 200 meters at Butte College; has five career NorCal titles, three school records
Chabot track and field teams had strong showings at the NorCal Championships at Butte College this past weekend.
Starting things off, the Chabot women’s school-record-holding 4x100-meter relay team placed second with a time 46.74 seconds.
The Gladiator men followed by winning the 4x100 relay and matching the school record with a time of 40.84.
In the 100, which boasted two of the three fastest women in Chabot school history, Nyarah Anderson Brown placed third with a blazing time of 11.79 while Niah Alomar placed fifth (12.17). Alomar had run 11.98 in the preliminaries.

On the men’s side, Robert Stitts crushed the competition with the wind legal time of 10.28, breaking his own school record. Jamal Perry placed fourth with a huge PR of 10.54 — the 5th fastest time in program history.
Stitts is now a five-time Northern California champion and holds the school record in three events.

In the men’s 800, sophomore Amartya Poovaiah prevailed with a time of 1:54.57.
In the women’s 200, the Gladiators had four in the final, and Anderson-Brown won with a blazing time of 24.05 into a 1.4 headwind! Rymiah Pringle-Hamilton placed fifth (25.20), Alomar sixth (25.27), and Maleah Taylor eighth (26.00).
On the men’s side, Stitts defended his title with a winning time of 21.20.
In the Women’s 5K, sophomore Medha Gowda placed fourth in a tactical race with a time of 18:44.59 and solidifies her place in the State Championships.
To cap the running events, Chabot’s women’s 4x400 team set the school record by seven seconds in a time of 3:53.65.
Next is the State Championships at College of San Mateo on May 16-17.
