AAUW Historic Homes Tour Proceeds Go To Schools

AAUW donates $5,000 to Healdsburg Education Foundation and $1,300 to high school career program.

Healdsburg's chapter of donated $5,000 to fully fund this year's after-school “homework” library hours at both and .

Money for the gift, given to the schools through the came from AAUWʼs Historic Homes Tour and Wine Country Raffle, the group's major fundraising event for the year.

A small army of volunteers works almost year-round to organize the Proceeds then are given to area nonprofits to enhance education.

That includes the $5,000 to HEF, the Healdsburg Education Foundation, for this yearʼs The “homework” hours provide a productive and convenient place for Healdsburg students to do their homework, conduct research on school secured databases, and to have access to computer technology.

AAUW also donated $1,300 for Naviance, a web-based college and career planning tool for students, parents, and guidance counselors widely used by high schools throughout
the U.S.

Naviance is part of a broader "Career Choices" program that the AAUW and the have sponsored at Healdsburg High School.

Proceeds from the Homes Tour will also support scholarships for students graduating from Santa Rosa Junior College and going on to four-year colleges.

The mission of AAUW is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, research and philanthropy. AAUW is a national non-profit organization founded in 1882.
