Brace Yourself: Snow, Fog, Cold Descending On Bay Area
The Bay Area is bracing for below-freezing temperatures for the rest of the week. What are the lowest temperatures on record for your town?
NORTH BAY , CA — Near-record-breaking cold temperatures will descend on the Bay Area, making the winter colder.
Temperatures fell overnight by 10 or more degrees in Contra Costa County, dropping into the low 30s.
Meanwhile, snow dusted the North Bay, replacing the rain — at least temporarily.
The Sonoma Valley received a layer of snow and temperatures below freezing.

The snow level dropped to about 2,000 to 2,500 feet, while mountain-top temperatures fell to the lower 20s on Mount St. Helena, and to the mid 20s at other mountain tops in the Bay Area and north Central Coast.
Rain is offshore for the time being. Additional storm development will bring gusty winds and rain back to the region tonight and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

But below-normal cold continues through February, with overnight lows and damp conditions that make it feel even colder, impacting people without adequate shelter, according to the NWS. That means near-record-breaking cold temperatures Thursday night into Friday morning.
North Bay drivers should expect patchy fog and mist this morning, making the commute tricky.
