Breathless Wines Breaks Ground on New 1920s-Inspired Tasting Room in Healdsburg

HEALDSBURG, Calif., February 22, 2016 – Breathless Wines today announced it has begun construction on a new tasting room located at 499 Moore Lane in Healdsburg, on the heels of a crowdfunding campaign launched last September. The tasting room will be the first of its kind in Healdsburg, built out of shipping containers. Construction is expected to be completed this May or June depending on the weather.

Breathless was founded in 2011 by three sisters—Sharon Cohn, Rebecca Faust and Cynthia Faust—who launched the brand of sparkling wines in memory of their mother, Martha. Breathless’ mission is to honor Martha’s dedication to giving back to the community.

“In that spirit, we donate to a variety of non-profits and are excited to provide a space for these partners to host educational events and fundraisers at the new tasting room,” said Sharon Cohn.

With over 25 Best of Class, Gold and 90-plus point ratings between its three wines, Breathless is recognized as one of the most distinguished sparkling wine brands today.

Breathless, with award-winning winemaker Penny Gadd-Coster, produces 1,500 cases annually of Brut, Blanc de Noirs and Brut Rosé. New small lots of sparkling wines are slated to launch this year, as well as still wines, which will be available only in the tasting room.

“Breaking ground on the Breathless tasting room means moving forward on the vision of encouraging celebrating breathless moments in all ways, and never taking a breath for granted, as our mother lived her life and passed on to us. Today is her birthday—breaking ground on her birthday makes it that much more special,” said Cohn.

The completed space will include an indoor tasting room bar and meeting space constructed out of four connected shipping containers with 1920s-inspired industrial chic design. An outdoor tasting and event space will feature a small stage area, gardens with sculptures and artwork installations and demos on sabering (the ancient art of removing the top of a bottle of sparkling wine with a sword).

“Through our crowdfunding campaign and our new tasting room, we’re building connections, Breathless ambassadors, and organizing with non-profits to create real differences in people’s lives,” said Cohn.
