Detours To Begin Near Sonoma Co. Bridge Project

Sonoma County officials say the detours affecting daytime traffic are scheduled to begin this week.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Detours will be in place around the Hauser Bridge located near Cazadero in Sonoma County for a total of seven days over the next month, county officials said Monday.

Through traffic, both vehicles and cyclists, will be detoured at the intersections of Tin Barn Road and King Ridge Road, and at Kruse Ranch Road and Seaview Road, from 7 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Sept. 7, 8, 9, 11, 12,
13 and 23, according to county officials.

The purpose of the detour is to allow the steel for the new bridge to be delivered and set in place, using the existing bridge to stage the construction, county officials said.

The existing bridge, which suffers from foundation issues, will be replaced by an asymmetrical steel arch structure designed to fit the unique topography of the riverbanks, county officials said.

Hauser Bridge is located on Hauser Bridge Road over the South Fork of the Gualala River about four miles east of the junction of Highway 1 and Kruse Ranch Road, near Cazadero.
