Driver Dies In Crash Near Sonoma, Napa County Line: CHP
The fatal crash happened on Franz Valley Road south of Spencer Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A woman died in a solo-vehicle crash Thursday on a rural roadway near the Sonoma/Napa county line.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were dispatched at 6:12 p.m. Thursday to the crash on Franz Valley Road, south of Spencer Lane.
"It was reported that a vehicle had driven off the roadway and collided with a tree," CHP Spokesperson David deRutte said. "Calistoga Fire Department personnel arrived on scene. A female driver and solo occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The CHP's preliminary investigation indicated the woman was traveling northbound on Franz Valley Road in a Ford Focus when for unknown reasons that were still under investigation, the Ford veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree.
The driver's identity was being withheld pending the notification of her family members.
