Driver Runs Red Light, Arrested For DUI, Firearms Possession: Santa Rosa CHP

Breaking: The Sebastopol man allegedly evaded an officer who saw him run a red light, according to California Highway Patrol-Santa Rosa.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- A California Highway Patrol officer arrested a driver Monday evening on suspicion of DUI and possession of loaded firearms after allegedly witnessing a white Toyota Highlander drive 40 mph through a red light at the intersection of state Highway 116 and Vine Hill Road around 4:35 p.m., CHP officials said.

The driver, Brandon Tanner, 36, of Sebastopol, failed to stop when CHP Officer Victor Ruiz activated the patrol car's emergency equipment, according to CHP Officer Steven Fricke. Tanner continued driving onto a private dirt, Fricke said.

Tanner drove down several surface streets, pulled into his driveway on Kamuela Road and tried to close a wooden gate to conceal his location, Fricke said. Ruiz used his patrol car to prevent the gate from closing and several additional CHP officers responded to the incident, Fricke said.
