Driver Slams Into Brick Wall During Early Morning Crash: Watch

A Land Rover captured on video traveled westbound, crashed through a bank sign and trees, before slamming into a brick wall: SPD.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A 47-year-old driver crashed a black SUV into a brick building early Tuesday after speeding along Sebastopol Avenue while inhaling what police suspect was nitrous oxide.

The crash happened this morning about 6 a.m. in the 6000 block of Sebastopol Avenue, where the driver was trapped inside the wrecked vehicle.

Officers found a black Land Rover SUV lodged against a brick wall and a large hole into the structure. The driver remained inside the vehicle, continuing to use an inhaler, according to police.

Video footage shows the vehicle traveling westbound on Sebastopol Avenue. At the intersection with Petaluma Avenue, the SUV struck a curb near Westamerica Bank, crashed through a large bank sign, uprooted multiple trees, and crossed the entire parking lot before slamming into the brick wall of a nearby building.

Officers arrested the man and removed him from the SUV, then took him to a hospital for treatment. He was later booked in the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police said the crash caused significant structural damage but no injuries, adding that no pedestrians were in the area at the time, preventing what they said could have been a far more serious incident.
