The Town's Water Conservation Program is partnering with Daily Acts and Occidental Arts & Ecology Center's Water Institute to provide a free evening presentation about rainwater harvesting by speaker Nate Downey. Rainwater Harvesting is the practice of capturing, infiltrating or utilizing rainfall from roofs, constructed catchment surfaces, and driveways, sidewalks, parking lots and streets.
Nate Downey is an award-winning author, entertaining speaker, experienced entrepreneur, and dedicated food-gardener. The author of Harvest the Rain (Sunstone Press, 2010) and Roof-Reliant Landscaping (State of New Mexico, 2008), Nate has also written what may be the longest continuously published column about permaculture in a mainstream publication. His monthly column, “Permaculture in Practice,” has been published by the Santa Fe New Mexican since 1998. In 1992, Nate started Santa Fe Permaculture, Inc. (SFP), and since then he’s been growing his ecological landscape design and installation firm. SFP’s beautiful, functional, and ecological projects consistently pop up in a wide range of prominent publications like Su Casa, Fine Gardening, and Sunset Magazine.
The evening kicks off with an introduction by Brock Dolman of the Water Institute starting at 7pm in the Town Council Chambers located at 9291 Old Redwood Highway in Windsor. Although this is a free event, it is requested that you register online here.
