Our “Guitar Trio” night brings together a multigenerational group of fret experts. Portland, Oregon-based John Stowell is a widely admired improviser whose lyrical, harmonically sophisticated style has led to recordings and gigs with jazz giants such as Milt Jackson and Lionel Hampton.
Randy Vincent is a similarly esteemed player with extensive credits, though he’s equally renowned as an educator who has mentored a bevy of seriously accomplished players. He’s appeared as a sideman with a number of Festival performers in the past, including the Brazilian songstress Leny Andrade and, more recently, Mario Guarneri.
Healdsburg-raised, 17-year-old Kai Devitt-Lee has studied with both Stowell and Vincent. A member of the prestigious SFJAZZ High School All- Stars, Devitt-Lee has already established himself as an important new voice. He plays frequently in the area, and will be featured on three successive nights at this year’s festival in different combos.

Let’s not forget the venue — Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen, a nationally-recognized destination for fine cuisine from the celebrity chef, founder of “progressive American cuisine.” The restaurant features a three-course Sonoma Neighbors Menu on weeknights that’s sure to be given a special jazzy twist for this evening’s peformance.
