Good News! Second Missing Hiker On Mt. Tam Found

Ground and helicopter crews were looking for the pair since this morning.

The second of two hikers reported missing on Mount Tamalpais this morning has been found, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

The female hiker known as Jen was found around 11 a.m. and is being interviewed by search and rescue workers, sheriff’s officials said.

The male hiker known as Rob walked back to the search command post around 9 a.m. on his own, according to the sheriff’s office.

The ground search for the two missing hikers started at 2:30 a.m. today in the Red Rock area of Mt. Tamalpais State Park. A California Highway Patrol helicopter crew joined the effort using thermal imaging devices an hour later, National Park Service spokeswoman Alexandra Picavet said.

The park service had 10 searchers on the ground in addition to a Southern Marin County Fire Department search and rescue team, Picavet said.
