WINDSOR, CA — Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri, a Santa Rosa-area resident famous for his popular "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" Food Network TV show, was at Windsor High School recently for lessons in cooking and volunteering.

Fieri was at the school Tuesday along with his sons, Hunter and Ryder, to help serve up more than 550 burritos to visiting Special Olympics athletes.

Ahead of the event, Fieri and his culinary team led by Chef Cesar Orozco stopped by the school last week during National Volunteer Week to show the students how to make authentic Mexican rice and beans, along with creating a perfectly wrapped burrito.

"Guy shared his knowledge of the history of the ingredients used in the dishes," the Guy Fieri Foundation wrote on Instagram. "The students participated, asking and answering questions about the foods and were hands-on with making the burritos."

The culinary students took the lessons and made over 550 burritos with the Guy Fieri Foundation culinary team to provide lunch during an event Tuesday for Special Olympics athletes in partnership with Special Olympics Northern California.

In 2020 during the coronavirus, Fieri helped raise $20 million to provide grants of $500 each to restaurant workers affected by job loss.
