HEALDSBURG, CA — The Healdsburg Fire Department announced it is scheduled to conduct multiple prescribed pile burns and chipping Wednesday and Thursday, March 1-2, in the Ridge Open Space Preserve adjacent to the Parkland Farms neighborhood.

The prescribed burns are part of the California Vegetation Treatment Program, and are being funded through the Coastal Conservancy Grant. The work will reduce the risk of wildfires in the area and promote the growth of native plants.

During the prescribed pile burns, smoke will be visible throughout the day. The Healdsburg Fire Department advised residents in close proximity to the treatment area to keep their windows and doors closed. The department assured residents it will take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of nearby homes and will have fire crews on scene for the entirety of the project.
