Greyhound boys can qualify in Division IV this week
A trio of standouts has on the brink of earning a North Coast Section Division IV playoff spot.
Kevin MacLachland, Peter Nelsen and Joey Miller will play key roles this week when Healdsburg winds up the Sonoma County League season at home versus Sonoma Valley on Wednesday and then at El Molino on Wednesday.
The Greyhounds are 5-7 in the SCL and 9-14 overall. In order to qualify for the playoffs, a team must have a winning record in league, overall or against teams in their own division.

Based on section criteria for playoff qualification, the Greyhounds need to sweep the SCL finales in order to finish .500. They can end no better than 11-14 overall, but they enter the final week of regular season play 3-1 againt Division IV opponents, including a 63-50 win over El Molino. So, it appears that the Greyhounds will be playoff-eligible based on their record within Division IV.
MacLachlan, a senior guard, is averaging 11.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Miller, another senior guard, has scored 10.6 points and grabbed 3.5 boards per contest. Nelson leads the team ion rebounding (5.2 per game) and scoring (11.9 points).

Healdsburg's playoff hopes are given further life by virtue of Maxpreps.com North Coast Section Division IV ratings that have them rated No. 11. The NCS has the option of including up to 16 teams in each division's playoff tournament.

The Greyhounds are 0-10, in last place in the Sonoma County League, and 10-14 overall.
Rio Lindo Adventist eyes playoff spotsThe Rio Lindo Adventist girls are ranked fourth in the Maxpreps.com North Coast Section Division VI ratings, putting them in fine position to earn a playoff spot.
The Spartans are 13-5 entering the final three games on the season, so they're assured of finishing with the necessary overall winning record to qualify for the postseason. Rio Lindo Adventist is 5-5 in the North Central League South II.
Seraphie Allen is having a sensational season for the Spartans. She is averaging 14.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Lisa Marxmiller averages 9.1 points and 9.4 rebounds to help form a dynamic duot for the Spartans.
Christine Woods is another key for the Spartans. She averages 7.1 points and 4.6 points per game.
The Spartans boys are also in good position to qualify for thye D VI playoffs. They are 9-9 overall, so need only to win two of their final three league games to qualify based on a having an overall winning record.

The North Coast Section seeding meetings to select teams in all diivisions who apply for at-large berths. League champions from Division VI automatically advance to the playoffs.
