Healdsburg Historic Homes Tour a crowd-pleaser

This year's 21st annual tour on May 15 features 7 homes.

Healdsburg is filled with an eclectic blend of vintage homes, modern homes and historic homes. The districts where these homes reside gracefully blend from one to another.

Some of these areas boast large Victorians that have been modernized over the years. While other areas were developed pre-World War II are humble homes and have a certain character that transcends the years. No matter what the area or home these homes are gems rich with history. 

For the past 21 years, the has sponsored the Healdsburg Historic Homes Tour. On Sunday, May 15, seven of historic Healdsburg’s finest homes will be showcased on a self-guided walking tour with proceeds from this event going to their scholarship fund.

"We have been supporting this project for several years at the " said Beth Robertson, Realtor for "It is a great way to showcase some of Healdsburg's real estate."

Last year, the homes tour raised $30,000 for college scholarships and a broad variety of educational programs, particularly in the area of career and college counseling.

The historical and architectural descriptions for the tour are researched and written by H

"The Historic Healdsburg Homes Tour is a wonderful way to spend a spring day," Hoods said. "Appreciating local architecture and interior design, learning some local history, and exploring the residential neighborhoods of Healdsburg while supporting a worthy cause.

"Every house has its own unique story and personality," Hoods added. "We appreciate the tour's drawing more people to see our exhibit, 'Russian River Good Old Days,' which has been extended through Aug. 14."

This year’s Historic Homes Tour includes:

  • A 1912 Craftsman home with original woodwork;
  • A lovingly restored mid-1900s bungalow, originally built by students at Seventh Day Adventist College;
  • A 1932 English Tudor-style home;
  • A 1901 Queen Anne Victorian cottage;
  • A Tuscan-style home with dramatic, 360-degree rooftop view;
  • An 1871 Italianate mansion with Greek Revival elements. 

Guests check in at the , 221 Matheson St. (corner of Fitch St.), from 11:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.; homes are open for touring from 1-4:30 p.m.  

Knowledgeable docents will be on hand at each home to provide information about the homes’ unique history and distinctive architectural features. 

The tour also features a wine country raffle with gift certificates for Healdsburg’s acclaimed local restaurants, wineries, and hotels and inns.  All proceeds from the tour and raffle support local public education and individual scholarships.
