Healdsburg Hounds Manhandle Petaluma Trojans
Healdsburg dominated Petaluma on their Homecoming Night with 36-14 win.
NOTE: This article was updated Sunday night, Oct. 2, 2011, to reflect Petaluma senior wide receiver Dylan Parks as the name of the player who caught the Trojan's final TD pass of the game.

The Hounds controlled the game from the opening kick-off and didn’t let up for the next 48 minutes, extending their current winning streak to three. Healdsburg now stands 4-1 for the season while Petaluma dropped to 0-5.

Healdsburg seemed to put points on the board with ease in the first half, pulling their starting offense late in the second quarter. Gerardo Cervantes scored the first points of the game with a 4 yard touchdown run with 4:01 left in the 1st quarter.
Healdsburg place kicker Danny Dillion recovered a perfectly executed onside kick, setting the Hounds up for another goal line drive. However Petaluma spoiled the drive with an intercepted pass and got the ball on their own one yard line. Healdsburg held the Trojans, causing a fumble which resulted in a safety.

Healdsburg senior Gerardo Cervantes closed out the 1st quarter with a 46 yard run, and his second touchdown, bringing the score to 15-0 after the extra point kick. Healdsburg recovered another onside kick and drove toward the goal line.
Senior wide receiver Charlie Conrad caught a touchdown pass with 11:10 left in the 2nd quarter. Hound senior John Etchel continued the scoring demonstration, rushing for a 4 yard touchdown with 8:32 left in the 2nd quarter.
Healdsburg’s defense held the Trojan’s and allowing Greyhound reserve quarterback Luis Nieves and halfback Spencer Engleke to drive the offense toward the goal line. With 3.8 seconds left in the half, Healdsburg’s Danny Dillon kicked a 30 yard field goal, closing out the half with a score to 33-0.
Petaluma’s offense got on track in the second half. Trojan quarterback Patrick Bailey connected with wide receiver Peter Maselli for a touchdown from the 6 yard line. Petaluma converted the extra point bringing the score to 33-7 with 54.9 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.
A series of penalties hampered the Greyhound offense in the 4th quarter. Unable to score a touchdown from deep in Trojan territory, Healdsburg settled for 23 yard field goal from kicker Dillon with 6.36 left in the game bringing the score to 36-7.
With the game out of reach, Petaluma didn’t just fade away. The Trojans scored on a long pass to senior wide receiver Dylan Parks with 56.4 seconds left in the game. Healdsburg finished the game by taking a knee the final two plays, ending with a 36-14 win.
Earlier in the evening the Healdsburg Junior Varsity squad fell to the Trojans 26-14.
Healdsburg celebrates its homecoming next Friday with a home game against the Analy Tigers at The game starts at 7:30 with the Homecoming parade starting at 3:30 in the Healdsburg Plaza.
