Healdsburg Poised for Building Boom

Major construction launching all over town in recent weeks.

After a recent lull, Healdsburg's commercial real estate market is on the upswing, with several major buildings in progress and more on the way.

"It's not moving as fast as we'd like, perhaps -- but it is getting better and moving up," said contractor Jerry Eddinger of in Healdsburg.

"The city building inspector told me he issued 50 building permits in this month alone," Eddinger added.

Eddinger, who serves on the and the is building a two-story, 3,000-square-foot headquarters for , a solar electric energy company, at Front Street and Healdsburg Avenue across from the H

"They are a well known business in the area," said Eddinger of Pure Power Solutions, run by Rody Jonas and his family since about 1993.

Pure Power, which does both residential and small commercial solar power systems, has an office at the Jonases' home and an administrative office on West North Street in Healdsburg. However, the new construction will be their first major company building, Eddinger said. He said he hopes to finish it by December.

"They are planning to have their Christmas party there," Eddinger said.

At the north end of town, meanwhile, G3 Enterprises, Inc. of Modesto, a wineries and spirits corporation, is constructing a two-story, 16,000-square-foot office building at 845 Healdsburg Ave. across from theat Powell Street.

Amy Wolfe, senior director and general manager of the real estate division for G3, said the primary tenant of the building will be Healdsburg-based winery E & J Gallo.

"This location is ideal for the operations of the main tenant, ," Wolfe said.

"The old [Gallo] winery building has been on the site since the early 1900s," Wolfe added. "This is an adaptive reuse project, converting the old winery to office space."

Estimated completion will be at the latter part of this year, Wolfe said.

Other Healdsburg construction includes:

--A new ;

--A multi-use hotel, wine tasting room and office complex next to at 215 Healdsburg Ave. Eddinger's firm is doing the work, he said.;

--A possible resurrection of the unfinished townhouse development. This is not commercial real estate, but it's still a part of the apparent rise in interest in new construction.
