News from the Healdsburg Jazz Festival:
In its 17th annual edition, the Healdsburg Jazz Festival, underway through June 7 in Sonoma County, leans in the direction of Latin American elements and the stimulating sounds of hard bop.
The festival showcases rare appearances by Brazilian artists including vocal legend Luciana Souza in a duo with Romero Lumbabo and Trio da Paz—with special guest Kenny Barron, plus Argentine “Nuevo tango” master Pablo Ziegler, and formative Latin Jazz legend Eddie Palmieri, all part of the “Jazz and the Music of the Americas” festival-within-a- festival on opening weekend.

A new outdoor event, “New Orleans Day on the Green” has been added this year showcasing three bands including St. Gabriel’s Celestial Brass Band, The Dixie Giants and the Russian River Ramblers.
