Hundreds Attend Santa Rosa Rally Calling For Trump's Impeachment

The rally was one of about 20 "Nobody Is Above The Law" gatherings in the Bay Area on the eve of what may be a historic impeachment vote.

SANTA ROSA, CA — Hundreds of demonstrators filled the Old Courthouse Square in Downtown Santa Rosa Tuesday evening chanting "lock him up" and "liar liar pants on fire." Some motorists honked in support of demonstrators' handheld signs and posters calling for the impeachment of U.S. President Donald Trump.

An estimated 200 to 300 people showed up at the rally, some carrying "Baby Trump" balloons. Similar events were planned around Sonoma County and the North Bay Tuesday night, including in Petaluma, Sonoma, Healdsburg, Napa and Fairfield.

Santa Rosa police officers were on scene for what appeared to be a loud but peaceful protest.

Two articles of impeachment approved by the House Judiciary Committee charge that President Trump abused the power of his office and obstructed Congress in a quest to rig the 2020 election.

Meanwhile, President Trump on Tuesday denounced what he called a "partisan impeachment crusade" being waged against him by Democrats, comparing the effort to remove him from office to the Salem witch trials and questioning the patriotism of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Trump made the remarks in a six-page letter to Pelosi that he made public. Read Trump's letter to Pelosi at The New York Times.
