Independence Fire In Sonoma County 100-Percent Contained
Breaking: The fire off U.S. Highway 101 south of Geyserville briefly threatened homes Monday afternoon, a Cal Fire official said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- Crews with Cal Fire and several local agencies contained a vegetation fire to 11 acres Monday in the northern Sonoma County area of U.S. Highway 101 and Independence Lane south of Geyserville. Three fires burned 3-5 acres each and were reported at 11:07 a.m, Cal Fire Capt. Leah Simmons-Davis said. Firefighters from Windsor, Healdsburg, Santa Rosa and Geyserville responded to the fires that were treated as one blaze dubbed the Independence Fire, officials said.
Some homes in the area were temporarily threatened but none burned, Simmons-Davis said.
Cal Fire officials stated just before 6 p.m. that the Independence Fire two miles south of Geyserville was 100-percent contained at 11 acres -- down from 15 acres as initially reported.
