League Leading Windsor Extends Win Streak to 10

Using their considerable size advantage, the league leading Windsor Jaguars rolled to their 10th straight victory Tuesday evening over the

Taking the lead within seconds of the tip-off, the Jaguars never surrendered it as they went on to defeat the home team Hounds 56-44.  

The kept looking for ways to consistently score against the bigger, more dominate Jaguar squad.  They looked for fast break opportunities and drove to the basket when the caught Windsor in transition.  Other times they slowed the tempo down, looking to create an opening to drive or space for a jumper.

Unfortuantely the Hound defense struggled against Windsor's crisp passing and ball control.  Windsor used its skills to spread the Hound defense and get the ball into thier big men for easy scores.  

Windsor used its larger players to block shots and to control the defensive boards, preventing the Hounds from second chance shots.  Healdsburg held tough the entire night, never conceding the game, making their final basket with just seconds left on the clock.

While Windsor controlled most of the game, Healdsburg’s 19-7 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter kept the Hounds in the hunt. 

Cameron Lutz led the Healdsburg squad with 16 points while Hunter Smith led the Jaguars with 17. Healdsburg’s second leading scorer of the night, Gus Morris,  scored all of his eight points in the fourth quarter, helping the Hounds close in on the Jaguars. 

Tuesday night's game was the final SCL basketball match-up between Windsor and Healdsburg.  The Jaguars move to the North Bay League at the end of this year.  

The 12-11 Greyhounds host the struggling Petaluma Trojans this Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.
