LAKE COUNTY, CA — A Clearlake Oaks man remained behind bars Friday following his arrest early Tuesday at the scene of a vegetation fire.

Crews with Cal Fire's Sonoma Lake Napa Unit responded at 2:03 a.m. Tuesday to the blaze on New Long Valley Road near Pomo Trail, according to Tyree Zander, a Cal Fire spokesperson.

There were two separate fires and crews extinguished both, Zander said.

Firefighters also saw a person in the area so they asked Cal Fire law enforcement and the Lake County Sheriff's Office to respond.

A sheriff's deputy detained the man, later identified as 28-year-old Joseph Edward Calia, until Cal Fire law enforcement arrived.

"Upon completion of an investigation, it was determined that the individual was suspected of intentionally setting both fires," Zander said Thursday in a news release.

Calia was arrested and booked into Lake County jail on suspicion of two felony counts of arson and one misdemeanor count of trespassing. His bail was set at $100,000 and he was still in custody Friday, according to jail records.
