Mom Who Drove Drunk With Kids In Car Gets Jail Time: DA

Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch said the 31-year-old mother's actions were "outrageous" and a prison sentence was warranted.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A woman was sentenced to 364 days in jail and five years probation for DUI and child endangerment Tuesday. Alexandra Darla Hutcheson, 31, pleaded no contest in April to two counts of child endangerment and DUI with a prior DUI within 10 years, the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office said.

Hutcheson was driving an Acura MDX SUV on Nov. 21, 2017 with two children ages 2 and 7 in the car when she lost control of the vehicle on northbound U.S. Highway 101.

The vehicle veered off the road at the Central Windsor exit ramp, down an embankment and across a sidewalk before striking two vehicles stopped at a red light. Her blood-alcohol level was 0.27 percent, the District Attorney's Office said.

Hutcheson admitted resisting a police officer and refusing a chemical test and having a blood alcohol level more than 0.20 percent.

Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Robert LaForge ordered Hutcheson to complete a residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program and a 52-week parenting class.
