BEWARE OF PREDATORS!

This past week has seen the stock market in a roller coaster, and the trained eye sees all-time low interest rates in the next five days. Be ready to lock your rates for refi’s or purchases. There will never again be rates this low, period. By the way that guy on TV that can get you the 30-year fixed right now for under 3% is a liar, period. I hope that my attitude is not coming through.

I do have an attitude right now and it is being caused by lenders on TV that promise stuff that they could never deliver. You think that it will save you money, but who are they? They are liars! I have at least a dozen lenders in my pool of lenders that are real professionals. I know where they live and what they do for our community on the side. Using one of these local people will save you money in the long run and you will have a partner for life. Yes, life. These folks have made it through our toughest times in history and are still here proudly serving. They will go to any length to make sure that you are getting the best deal out there. They study the market, our market on a daily basis and are the best, period.

I have an attitude because there are companies out there that will take your hard-earned money to get you a loan modification that is impossible and they know it when they are taking your money. They are swindling people out of money, period. If you want a loan modification the lenders that have your loan are the best help you can get. I am doing one myself the EMC / Chase. They have been great to work with. I am confident that they will do their best for me. They have a help center in Oakland to get you started and have been great. There are many government help programs as well. The good ones are free and will not charge up front for stuff they cannot deliver, period.

I have an attitude because there are some shady realtors out there that promise to have a buyer for your home that is under water and deliver the buyer that will lease your home back to you forever. I had one solicit me and he did not know I am a Realtor. He also did not know that my best friend is a District Attorney in charge of consumer fraud. We sat down, I listened to his pitch which is walking right down the narrow line of consumer fraud. He is still operating this way today. Good luck in H&%# Mr. Shady Realtor, period.

I have an attitude because there is a non-profit out there that will purchase your home if it is under water. All of the paperwork is phony and you will end up transferring over all of your rights and deeds to your property, leaving you with nothing. They promise to sell your home and share any profit. We know about these creeps because we have had one of their victims come to us for help. There was no title insurance or anything to help get their money back. The FBI is now involved.

I do feel better now but that will go away quickly if any of you succumb to these predators. If you need help it is out there and right here. If you do not know which way to turn you are not alone and over half of the homes in California are under water. Do not let pride or shame get in the way of making the right choices and getting help from the right sources. That is when folks like you make these bad choices and the bad guys can tell when you are ripe for picking.

Note: My father has been a publisher his entire life. I am very proud of Dad. He recently stepped down from a quarterly publication that he has produced for well over a decade. That publication will be out soon without him at the helm.  Ironically enough my daughter will be contributing her first publication to the Healdsburg High School newspaper this week. Looks like good writing skips a generation in our family, LOL, period!
