Rains Causing Rot Damage to Local Vineyards

Rains coming at crucial time of grape harvest.

As reported in , rains that come at the wrong time in the Sonoma County grape harvest can be damaging to the crops due to the potential for rot.

Earlier in the summer, when bud break was not yet happening, Healdsburg area vineyard experts said rains did not seem to be a overwhelming problem. Then the sun came out and grape growers were optimistic they could recoup somewhat from the early rains.

But the return of rain over the last several weeks is hurting the crops, according to an article in the Press Democrat.
