Relief, Concern After Briggs Blaze Scorches Sonoma County Acres
Cal Fire crews continue mop-up of Geyserville Briggs wildfire while investigators try to find the cause.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Sonoma County residents, already wary of the approaching wildfire season, watched plumes of smoke rise over the weekend as a vegetation fire broke out in Geyserville, prompting a swift response from firefighters.
The fire broke out Sunday in the 6300 block of Briggs Ranch Road, where flames burned through heavy vegetation and threatened to spread.
Cal Fire crews responded at 1:47 p.m. to stop the fire’s forward progress by securing a perimeter around the blaze.

With the fire contained, crews shifted to extensive mop-up operations, working through dense, slow-burning fuels and putting out hot spots, according to a Cal Fire news release on social media.
Firefighters remained on scene into the evening to reinforce containment lines and reduce the risk of flare-ups.
