#RockyFire Hits 22K Acres, 5% Contained, More Evacuations; #WraggFire Nearly A Wrap, 92% Contained

And from the #FrogFire near Alturas: The death of a U.S. Forest Service firefighter was reported.

Cal Fire reports that the Rocky Fire in Lake County has consumed 22,500 acres as of this afternoon with containment at 5 percent.

“The fire has progressed and is currently moving southwest towards Lower Lake and the eastside of Clearlake. An Evacuation Advisory has been issued for the City of Clearlake impacting 5,000 residences,” Cal Fire said.

Today’s expected rain and cooler temperatures were welcomed.

CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa is the administrative unit on the fire, and is receiving assistance from Kelseyville FPD, South Lake FPD, Northshore FPD, Lake County Sheriff, CHP, Lake Evacuation and Animal Protection (LEAP), Lake County Office of Emergency Services and North Bay Incident Management Team.

Personnel at the scene total 1,591, according to the department.

Three structures and multiple outbuildings are destroyed or damaged.

#WraggFire:

Firefighters have the 8,051 acre Wragg incident, in Napa and Solano counties near Lake Berryessa, 92 percent contained today - and officials hope to have the fire fully contained by Monday, according to Cal Fire.

The Wragg fire was originally reported July 22 in the 7700 block of state Highway 128 at Wragg Canyon Road. Firefighters have stopped the fire’s forward progress, and are now focusing on mop up and tactical patrol operations in an effort to reach full containment, according to a statement released by Cal Fire this morning.

There are no evacuations in place and all roads are currently open to normal traffic, but a campground near Lake Solano has been closed to accommodate fire equipment.

There are currently 136 structures threatened. Two outbuildings have been destroyed and four more have been damaged.

One residence has also been damaged. No injuries have been reported so far, according to Cal Fire. There are currently 1,279 firefighters on the scene with 4 helicopters, 75 fire engines and 13 water tenders, according to Cal Fire.

#FrogFire:

California Governor Jerry Brown has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in the capitol and elsewhere around the state after the death of a U.S. Forest Service firefighter near Alturas. David “Dave” Ruhl died Thursday while fighting the Frog Fire in the Modoc National Forest outside Alturas, according to a statement issued by the Governor’s office on Friday.

Ruhl was a resident of Rapid City, S.D. He worked in the Mystic Ranger District of the Black Hills National Forest, according to Brown’s office.

Further details about the circumstances surrounding Ruhl’s death were not immediately available.
